Walking the Trail with Ron

Eighty-seven-year-old Ron Pershing has found a unique way of exercising at Arizona Traditions. Ron is a long time pickleball player. He’s one of the older players here, and you’ll notice he wears the designated colors of the day. On Wednesday when his photo was taken, the color of the day was green. I found him walking around the AZT Softball Field. Ron is very dedicated to exercise. He can be found walking along the perimeter track. He’s an inspiration for all of us.

Battle of the Paddle trophy is now at home in the Neighborhood Center.

Never Say Goodbye to a Friend

So hard to say goodbye
Cause friends come and go
Some even die
But if I told you I’m okay
You ought to know it’s just a lie.

I refuse to even let you try
to write “Goodbye” on the cake.
Just give me a good corned beef on rye
No cake no matter how well it’s baked
Cause nothing’s good about this goodbye.

Yet we put on a good face
Being negative just won’t fly
You won’t see me frown…not a trace
You’ve got a card and other things I’ll buy.
Is it just too much of a crutch to say, “See you soon?"

Funny how we helped you pack
Like we wanted to see you leave.
All the while we wanted to put the boxes back
And each goodbye we tried to retrieve.
Your choice may be the worst, but your life comes first.

Hugs and kisses on the photos
As too many friends have come and gone.
We’ve had experience with these poses.
impressing on you to not be gone for long.
Tomorrow has come and I still can’t say “Goodbye.”

I still can’t say goodbye…so maybe what I’ll say is
Hi...and what I'd write on the cake is
"See you soon"...and I know on this cake, there's room.

May 29th

I was surprised today at the pickleball courts. A crew was working on the safety netting. I had thought they were all done despite the fact the nets had a big opening between the new nets and the fence. Stew
