On Friday, May 1st, something special was happening by the pickleball courts. Dozens of AZT residents were lining up their golf carts for what was looking like a parade. Many of the carts were decorated. On a closer look, the golf carts had signs. Each sign encouraged one of our own. Carol McGehee, a teacher and pickleball player, watched the parade as it moved past her home. She waved from a window inside the guest room of her home. Carol’s husband, Dwayne stood outside near his driveway and waved to everyone passing by on their golf cart. Standing next to Dwayne was Judi Elmer. She gave the McGehee’s a beautiful card signed by dozens of residents wishing Carol a speedy recovery. From my perspective, I was tremendously moved by such a showing of love. Carol has had such a strong influence on us all because she’s been such a positive person and makes everyone feel good. It’s our turn to give her positive vibes and encouragement to keep her looking forward and hoping she’ll get back on a pickleball court and show us a thing or two.
